Have you ever felt like you needed a vacation from your vacation? I know I have! Summer is supposed to be one of the most relaxing and refreshing times of the year, but some times, it can be the busiest. Sporting events, weddings, trips and the desire to cram in as much fun as possible can be both exhilarating and exhausting. When that happens, we need a Refresh!
At Summit Park Church we are excited to start a spiritual growth campaign called Refresh. We will be talking about how to make the most of the remaining weeks of summer and how to make sure that this fall season is the best it can possibly be. It all starts with spending time with Jesus and that’s what our Refresh campaign is all about.
As part of Refresh, we will be doing 21 days of fasting and prayer starting August 1st. God always responds when we fast and pray. It brings us closer to him and aligns our hearts with his priorities. I’d like to challenge you to pray about what you could give up for 21 days, so that you can get closer to God. You will be so glad you did!
Also, we’re doing a devotional emphasis we’re calling 30 for 30. As a church, we are challenging everyone to commit to spending 30 minutes with God for 30 days starting August 1st. We’ve picked a devotional from “The Bible App” so that all of us can be on the same page. It’s called “A 30-Day Walk with Jesus.” You can find “The Bible App” at bible.com or on the app store. The app makes it super easy to follow along and keep track of your progress. You’re going to love it!
I’ve consistently seen the difference setting apart daily time with God makes in my own life. I can’t wait to see what it does for our church over the next month!
